About the Project

The PerManeNt project is being implemented within the framework of ‘RESEARCH – CREATE – INNOVATE’, co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) of the European Union and Greek national funds through the Operational Program Competitiveness, Entrepreneurship & Innovation (EPANEK) (project code: T2EDK-04177). The duration of the project is 30 months.

The aim of the research project “PerManeNt” is the development of an integrated platform for operational monitoring, smart control, and sustainable energy management of water supply networks. The integrated platform will be applied to the external aqueduct system of the city of Patras, located in western Greece. The Municipal Enterprise of Water Supply and Sewerage of the City of Patras is the administrator of the external aqueduct system.

Project Innovation

Real-time data collection and processing from multiple systems/sources, for the visualization, business monitoring, energy management and operational control of water supply networks.

Near real-time detection of network malfunctions, failures and bursts, with the option for automatic alarms, system generated alerts and messages.

Generation of short and longer-term forecasts for the water demand and the corresponding energy consumption rates, based on hydrometeorological data and environmental indices.

“The main objective of the Research Project “PerManeNt” is the development of an integrated platform for operational monitoring, smart control and sustainable energy management of drinking water supply networks, and related projects”

Project Targets

Management

of the existing water supply networks to increase efficiency, while reducing the environmental footprint and associated operating costs.

Assist

the competent authorities (municipal enterprises, etc.) in efficient planning of network extensions and upgrades, timely decision making and scheduling of repairs, maintenance activities and replacement of installed equipment and efficient use of human resources.

Enhancing

the efficiency and ensuring the sustainability of existing infrastructure.
